So, why create a website for your association?
Here are just a few good reasons...
|
Communication...
Better communication. It is really the only driving force behind HOA web site justification. And it seems odd to join the world wide web to better communicate with your neighbor, but it works.
No More Flyers...
How do you communicate with your neighbors now? Sure you have a few phone numbers, maybe a printed directory from 1997 (and only 50% of the members agreed to be included). But what do you do if you have lost your dog? What do you do if you have forgotten the date of the Christmas party? How much money, and time, did you spend mailing out your last ballot and annual meeting minutes?
The pre-web communication method for HOAs is flyers and phones. There is a better way.
The Rest of the World...
Yes, a web site can be configured to protect your privacy. But what about the good in the rest of the world?
What if you could post a URL in a garage sale ad with pictures of your wares? That 7:00am Friday morning visitor might actually want to buy.
What if your HOA tennis team has 6 outsiders as members all of whom pay $20 a season to participate? They can access your web site to stay updated on schedules and announcements.
A web site, unlike directories and flyers, lets the good parts of the world in while still protecting the privacy of your community. And, with our system, you get to be the one who decides what is public and what is private, and you can change it any time you like. |

Common Data Access...
Here are a couple of fancy words worthy of a justification page: redundancy and continuity.
How many times do you recite directions to your house? Give them your URL instead How many copies of the protective covenants get xeroxed just to research a question? Direct people to your site and they can read the convenants online or print their own copy. How many homeowners have a file with HOA budgets and BOD meeting minutes going back 10 years? Post this information as part of your site, and everyone has central access to it. Did your last Board secretary lose the change request approval and violation letter records? Does it take a month to "get the files" from the secretary? Use your site for record keeping, and authorized members can access the records they need, when they need them. There is a better way. |
